Example of a paragraph from my Social Media Project. This paragraph shows how I integrated my sources into my paragraph and how I analyzed it.

danah boyd, the author of It’s Complicated, The Social Lives of Networked Teens, expresses in her writing how social media has created a pristine environment for people to express themselves and to connect to the world in diverse ways. She states, “that a new society was emerging as people escaped the limitations of their offline identities,” (boyd, 36). In other words, boyd believes the new society that is emerging for people to use, it lets people escape to a new place where they are able to better express their true selves. boyd talks about a girl who is a One Direction fan and how she uses different social media platforms to express herself. She says, “she first turned to Twitter because the members of One Direction were using that platform to engage with their fans, but as she engaged with the broader fan community, she spent more time talking with other fans than replying to the musicians’ tweets,” (boyd, 40). With this being said, it shows that using social media can connect you with new people in the world and not isolate you to loneliness, like Greenfield had inferred. It shows that people can use social media to connect with others and not isolate themselves, but rather open even more and show their true selves.
